Hello everybody, this is my personal web page here at Igalia, and the place where I'm planning to leave all that stuff that, in a way or another, is important, interesting or just funny for me.
Mario
I'm a 26 years old guy (just for this year [*]) who is living in A Coruña and working at this free software company called Igalia. I enjoy doing my work and learning so much as I can about almost every computer-related issue, specially focused on free software and GNU/Linux, new programming languages and cutting-edge technologies.
However, I'm not a computer maniac... I'm also interested in other activities such as going out at night, talking with friends, playing guitar, performing (and learning) diabolo tricks and, of course, staying with my girlfriend all the time I can.
[*] : I'll try to update this string every year... but if not, please don't send assasins to kill me because of the mistake
As I said before, I'm really interested in all about computers world. In a more specific way:
Java, C, PHP, Erlang...
I'm also interested in a large variety of issues far away from tech world:
[*] : I'm not exactly a great guitarrist, that's why I usually play it at home :)
[**] : I love the "pulpo a feira" (also known in several places by its english translation "octopus to the party")
Feel free to download (and improve) anything you want from this section ;)
If you mix functional programming (using Erlang) with web apps development (using Yaws) and a fault-tolerant storage system (using Mnesia) for your preferred fortunes... what do you get? Yeah!... eFortunes: a distributed, fault-tolerant and scalable fortunes server developed in Erlang.
Well, stop joking Mariolo, eFortunes is not that (yet ;))... nowadays eFortunes is just a personal workbench for me to learn more about web development with erlang, and the fortunes server is just an excuse (as another could be) for me to programming such that workbench.
[*] : I have talked before this on my blog, so you can also take a look there, if you wish
While developing my Master Thesis I needed a tool to test a web server under high load conditions, in order to see how it managed that situation. Then the director of the project told me about a tool called Tsung, which perfectly fit the requirements for the test I wanted to do.
After finishing the work, the director of my Master Thesis asked me for a talk about Tsung, so other people on the lab could easily to figure out what is this about, and how to work with it without "fighting" it as I did before. As it looked like a good idea to me, I did agree to set up the talk for my teacher and my fellow workers from the lab... and this is the result, some slides talkin about Tsung: what's Tsung, how to install/configure/use it, and an small example of using and gathering statistic results about the test done.

[**] : Sorry, slides are only available in spanish language, but I don't discard translate them to english when I have some spare time... but I don't know when I'll have spare time enough. That is true, h.... that is true.
In a certain day I needed a free CAD programs for some personal purposes. Then I got blender and I spent some hours learning the basics about it while making a 3D version of the igalia logo... and this is the humble result:
